Rebates can bring the price down
NSW Government incentives and manufacturer cash-backs can reduce the cost of an efficient new system, whether it’s a fresh install or a replacement for an old one. What you can get depends on the model you choose and your home.

What changes the price
- The size of your home. Bigger spaces need a bigger system, and we work that out by measuring your rooms.
- Single or double storey. Getting ductwork and pipes to a second level takes more time and materials.
- Ceiling height and roof space. High ceilings need more capacity, and tight roof access makes the install harder.
- Outlets and zones. On a ducted system, each extra outlet and zone adds to the price.
- Your switchboard. Some homes need electrical work before a new system can go in.
- Your old system. Taking out an old unit or ductwork is part of many jobs.
- Brand, model and warranty. Prices and warranty lengths vary across brands and ranges.
- Smart controls. Wi-Fi control and room-by-room zoning add to the upfront cost and let you run the system more efficiently.
Split systems
A split system is the most budget-friendly way to heat and cool one room or an open-plan area. If you want to do more than one room, you can fit several separate systems, or a multi-split that runs a number of indoor units from one outdoor unit. See our split systems.
Ducted air conditioning
Ducted heats and cools the whole home through outlets in the ceiling, with the unit out of sight. The lower end of the range is a smaller home with fewer outlets. The upper end is a larger home, a double storey, or a system with more zones. See our ducted systems.
Zoned systems such as MyPlace let you heat or cool only the rooms you’re using, and cost more upfront than a standard ducted system.
