How it works

What the Home Energy Saver loan is

0%
interest, always. You repay only what you borrow, over up to 10 years, with no upfront or ongoing fees.
It's a loan, not a rebate, so it doesn't cut the price of the job. It spreads the cost, interest-free.
NSW Government modelling found a typical household doing a $15,000 upgrade could trim its annual energy costs by up to $2,000, depending on the home and energy use. In many cases the bill savings can more than offset the repayments.

It's a NSW Government program that lets eligible households borrow up to $15,000 at 0% interest to install approved energy-saving upgrades, including efficient reverse-cycle air conditioning.

What it does is spread the cost out, interest-free, so you can get the comfortable, efficient system you actually want without the big upfront hit. We'll lay out the full cost, with the loan applied, in a clear quote.

Good to know: eligibility criteria and approved-upgrade requirements apply, and all loans are subject to Brighte's credit assessment. We'll confirm what qualifies for your home before anything goes ahead.
Stack your savings

A loan spreads the cost. Rebates and cash-backs reduce it.

It isn't the only help on offer, though. NSW Government incentives and manufacturer cash-backs can bring the upfront price down too, and you may be able to use them alongside the loan. See what your home could qualify for.

Make the most of it

Spreading the cost at 0% is the time to do it properly

Efficient reverse-cycle air conditioning and heat pump hot water are both on the program's approved-upgrade list, and they're exactly what we do. Because you're paying it off interest-free, it's a great time to choose the system that'll keep you comfortable and keep running costs down for years. Here's where to start.

Air Conditioning + Heat Pump Hot Water

Do it as a package and make the most of your $15,000

Your loan can go toward more than one approved upgrade. A smart move is to pair an efficient reverse-cycle system with heat pump hot water and do it all in one go, interest-free, so you tackle two of your home's biggest energy users at once instead of facing a second project later. We'll work out the right package for your home.

Honest advice, always. We'll recommend what actually suits your home and your budget. Smart zoning is a great pairing for a ducted system, though it isn't itself a funded item, so we'll be straight with you about what the program covers and what's an optional add-on.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is this a rebate or free money?

No. It's a 0% interest loan. You repay what you borrow, just with no interest and no upfront or ongoing fees, over up to 10 years. It doesn't reduce the price of the job, it spreads the cost.

Can I use it to go ducted, or add smart zoning?

The program is built around efficient reverse-cycle air conditioning, and that includes ducted systems. Smart zoning like MyPlace IQ is a great pairing for a ducted system so you only condition the rooms you're using, though it isn't itself a funded item. We'll be clear about what the program covers and what's an optional add-on when we quote.

Can I do more than one upgrade with the loan?

Yes. The loan can go toward more than one approved upgrade, up to $15,000 in total. A popular combination is an efficient reverse-cycle system plus heat pump hot water, done together in one go so you make the most of the one interest-free loan. We'll confirm what qualifies and put together the right package for your home.

What will it cost me?

The cost of the system and install, the same as any job, just financed at 0% over up to 10 years instead of paid upfront. We'll give you a clear quote.

Who provides the loan, and how does it work?

The loan is funded by the NSW Government and provided by Brighte, one of the program's appointed finance providers, which specialises in home energy upgrades. You apply online and Brighte can verify your income securely through the Australian Government's Consumer Data Right system, usually within a few minutes. Once we've finished the install and you're happy, Brighte pays us and you repay Brighte over up to 10 years at 0% interest with no upfront or ongoing fees. We'll guide you through every step.

Can renters use it?

The loan itself is for owners and landlords. If you rent, there's a separate discount the NSW Government is bringing in later in 2026 that your landlord's permission can unlock. Get in touch and we'll let you know when it opens.

When can you start?

The Home Energy Saver program is a NSW Government initiative. Loans are funded by the NSW Government and provided by Brighte, an appointed finance provider for the program. Eligibility criteria and approved-upgrade requirements apply, and all loans are subject to Brighte's credit assessment and approval. The loan has no establishment or account-keeping fees; a small late-payment fee may apply if you miss a repayment. Requesting a quote from Ample Air is free, is not an application for finance, and does not guarantee loan approval. Where you choose it, income can be verified through the Australian Government's Consumer Data Right system via Brighte's accredited providers, with your consent. Savings figures are from NSW Government modelling published by the Energy Security Corporation (June 2026); actual savings depend on the home and energy use and are not guaranteed.
