Started in St Marys in 1982, home in Emu Plains today — three generations of one family keeping Penrith, the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney comfortable.
Forty-something years, one standard
A Carrier dealership opens in St Marys
Steven Ovington opens the doors as a Carrier Factory Authorised Dealership. Back then, holding a Carrier dealership was a serious mark of trust — factory training, factory backing, and a bar to live up to. Ample Air built its name on it.
Thinking of air? Remember the bear
Look closely at that 1982 photo — there's a little polar bear on the desk. It was painted on the St Marys shopfront sign, too. There's been a bear about the place ever since: a collection across every office, plush bears that went home with every new ducted installation for years — and the original desk bear is still in the office today.
One panel van, a lot of kilometres
The original Ample Air panel van became a familiar sight across Sydney's west — and the referrals it earned still echo through the business today.
A landmark on the Great Western Highway
For more than three decades, Ample Air was a fixture of the Great Western Highway in St Marys — first at number 341, then at the 371 showroom that became a local landmark. Half the west still remembers spotting the sign from the road — and the phone number has barely changed: 623 7744 then, (02) 9623 7744 still rings today.
The move to Emu Plains
With the St Marys building sold, showroom and operations moved to 9 Railway Street, Emu Plains — closer to the Mountains and the customers who built the business. Still home today, fireplaces burning.
Number one in the country — twice over
Over the years the shelf filled up, including being named Australia's number-one dealer for both Carrier and Rinnai air conditioning. Different decades, same standard.
The installs kept adding up
Somewhere along the way the 20,000th installation went in. Nobody rang a bell — it was a Tuesday, and it was done properly.
Three generations, same name on the work
Steven, Daniel and Jon — with the third generation now on the tools. Selling, installing and servicing everything from smart air to fireplaces, with a local number and local names behind it.
Local off the clock, too — proud sponsors of Nepean FC.

Meet the family
Steven Ovington
Steven opened the doors in 1982 and has led the business ever since. The standards the whole team works to are his — and he still checks.
Daniel Ovington
Steven's son, Daniel runs the day-to-day and heads up sales — the second generation steering the business, and the bloke most likely to quote your job.
Jon Ovington
Also Steven's son, Jon runs service and maintenance — and his son Cooper is now on the tools with the service team, making it three generations.
