How to Reset Your Air Conditioning System
Sometimes heating and cooling systems can lock out due to a fault. This may be caused by a storm, power surge, or an intermittent error that has since cleared.
Important: Before attempting a reset, please take note of any fault codes or unusual symptoms. These details will help if a service call is later required.
Step-by-Step Reset Instructions
- Locate Your Meter Box – The electrical meter box is usually located near the front or side of your house. This is where your electricity provider takes meter readings.
- Open the Meter Box – Inside, you’ll find a series of circuit breakers or fuses.
- Find the Air Conditioning Circuit Breaker
- It’s commonly labelled ‘A/C’ or ‘Air Conditioning’.
- If you have more than one system, you may see ‘A/C 1’, ‘A/C 2’, etc.
- Some boards use numbers and include a sheet identifying each circuit.
- Check the Circuit Breaker Position
- If the breaker is OFF, try turning it back ON.
- If it trips again immediately, do not continue — contact our service team.
- If it is already ON, switch it OFF and leave it off for 20–30 minutes.
- Turn It Back On – After waiting, switch the breaker back ON and allow the system 10–20 minutes to complete its startup cycle.
- Check System Operation – Once the system has restarted, check if it’s running normally. Be patient — in extreme temperatures, it may take longer to notice heating or cooling effects.
Still Not Working?

- Does not start,
- Continues to display an error code, or
- Does not operate correctly
