Why Rinnai gas

A serious fireplace from one of Australia’s biggest names in home heating.

Rinnai does gas hot water, gas heating and gas appliances at scale across Australia. That same engineering sits behind their log-fire range.

Real flame, real combustion.

Flametech logs on the LS range; Ember Bed media on the inbuilts. Both burn actual gas behind actual logs — not a backlit effect. The difference reads across the room.

Properly sized to the room.

Heat output runs from 5 kW (compact bedrooms) up to 9.2 kW (open-plan living). The flagship 950 and 1250 hit 5.5 stars — Rinnai’s most efficient gas fires. We size to the room, not the catalogue.

Fits where it should.

Power flue, direct vent, room-sealed combustion. Rinnai’s flue options mean the unit can sit on the wall the room asks for — not the wall the chimney dictates.

No gas line? No problem.

Rinnai also do electric — the ES & EL Series.

If gas isn’t on the cards for your place, Rinnai’s ES and EL Series bring the same engineering to hyper-realistic flames, smart-app control and a plug-and-play install. We sell and install those too.

Common questions

The bits people usually ask.

Do I need a gas line at the meter, or can one be added?
Most houses west of Sydney either have town gas already or have room for an LPG bottle setup at the side. We’ll check what you’ve got during the site visit and tell you what’s involved — running a new line is usually a small job by comparison to the fireplace itself.
Natural gas or LPG — does it matter?
Every Rinnai gas fire runs on either; the unit is configured for one fuel at install. If you’re on town gas (natural gas), that’s almost always the cheaper running cost. LPG is the answer for places off the gas main — same fire, bottles out the back.
What's a power flue, and why does it matter?
Most Rinnai gas fires use a power flue — a small fan moves the exhaust along the flue, which means the flue path can run horizontally as well as vertically. That gives us a lot of freedom on where the unit can sit, particularly for retrofits into existing walls. The SS850 uses a different system again — coaxial direct vent, room-sealed combustion — which is excellent for tightly-built modern homes.
How long does the install take?
It varies — most of the time depends on your build, not the fireplace itself. Once we have your floor plan, the model picked and the gas and flue paths sorted, the unit itself is a quick install. We don’t typically run building works ourselves; we work alongside your builder to deliver and commission within their program.
Will it work in a power cut?
Honest answer — most modern gas fires need mains power for the fan and electronic ignition, so they won’t fire up during a blackout. That’s the trade-off for the efficiency and remote-control features. If running through extended outages matters to you, mention it on the site visit and we’ll talk through the options.
Who handles servicing and warranty?
Servicing and warranty go directly through Rinnai — they have factory-trained service technicians and the right parts on hand across Australia. If anything comes up after install, we’ll point you to the right contact and help with the paperwork.
