What is the installation lead time?

Installation lead times depend entirely on the type of system you are having installed and the time of year. For standard high-wall split systems in our local Penrith and Western Sydney service areas, we can typically schedule your installation within a week or so of quote acceptance.

Fully ducted air conditioning systems are larger projects that require custom ductwork manufacturing and more extensive planning. Because of this, lead times for ducted installations generally range from 2 to 3 weeks from the time you approve the quote.

However, please keep in mind that during peak extreme weather periods—such as the height of a Western Sydney summer or a freezing Blue Mountains winter—our schedule fills up incredibly fast, and lead times can be significantly longer. We always recommend planning ahead and booking your free site quote before the extreme weather hits to ensure your home is comfortable when you need it most.

Do I need to upgrade my electrical switchboard for a new ducted system?

Modern ducted air conditioning systems require a dedicated, high-capacity electrical circuit to run safely. In many older homes, the existing electrical switchboard does not have the capacity or the modern safety switches required by law to handle a new ducted system.

During your free site visit, our sales technicians will inspect your switchboard. If an electrical upgrade is required to meet current Australian Standards, we will clearly outline this in your quote so there are no hidden surprises on installation day.

Will there be a mess?

Installing air conditioning is a major trade service. It involves drilling through brickwork, cutting plaster for ceiling vents, and moving equipment through your home, so there will inevitably be some dust and noise on the day.

However, Ample Air treats your property with the utmost respect. Our installation teams use drop sheets to protect your flooring, clean up plaster dust and debris as they go, and remove all cardboard and packaging when the job is done. We aim to leave your home as tidy as we found it.

What happens to my old air conditioning unit?

When Ample Air installs your new system, you don’t have to worry about disposing of the old one. We safely and legally decommission your old unit, recover any harmful refrigerants in accordance with strict EPA and ARCTick environmental standards, and remove all the old equipment from your property. We take it away to be properly recycled, and this service is included at absolutely no extra cost to you.

Do I need to be home during the installation process?

We require an adult over the age of 18 to be present at the beginning of the installation to confirm the final placement of the indoor and outdoor units with our technicians.

Once the team is set up and working, you do not need to hover around; you can leave them to it or go about your day. However, we do ask that someone is home when the installation is complete so we can perform a full handover, show you how to operate your new controller, and ensure you are 100% satisfied.
