Heat pump running cost is based on Rinnai's published figure of up to 70% less energy than a standard electric storage tank, modelled to AS/NZS 4234 at peak winter load in Zones 3 and 4; every postcode we serve, Penrith through to Mount Victoria, sits in Zone 3. Rinnai notes savings vary with location, the water heater being replaced, hot water use and fuel tariffs. Hot water demand is estimated at 40 litres per person per day heated by 40°C, plus tank standing losses — a four-person home lands around 3,300 kWh a year on electric storage, in line with published Australian figures. Gas is costed at 62% seasonal efficiency for a storage tank and 82% for continuous flow. With solar panels we assume around 60% of the heat pump's run is your own daytime power, valued at the feed-in tariff you give up.
